I gotta tell ya, I feel like a kid again.
This weekend I leave for Disney World for a much needed Spring Break vacation. My family, girlfriend and I thought that would be a great way to spend the holiday break, particularly with a couple of Disney loving 3 and 5-year old nieces and seeing as how I haven’t been since I was 3 (some 20-something years ago) and can remember nothing more than the nightmarish chorus of “It’s a Small World” (with all due respect to the legendary Mary Blair) I’m really looking forward to the trip. The real joy is going to come from seeing my nieces eyes light up as they run around the park seeing their favorite characters, but as an old Disney fan myself do any of you have recommendations of a few things I should do at the parks? Anything an absolute must see?
I’m a huge Duck fan, so if there is anything Donald, Scrooge & Barks related — that’s the stuff I most want to see and experience. I’ve heard there’s very little in that respect though so outside of the statue of Duckburgs founder and Don’s great-great grandfather, Cornelius Coot, I’m not sure I’m going to see much in terms of Duck history. But I’d be happy for some insight if anyone has any to offer. I am sure there will be plenty of Donald Duck stuff to see (and purchase) so I definitely have that to look forward to.
I still have meetings, exams, and labs to take care of this week and it’s a particularly hectic one, but it’s great to know there’s some magic at the end of the tunnel. And as I prepare to go, I hope to devote the rest of this week’s blog entries to Disney, Gemstone, and the Ducks!
