Uncle Scrooge #374 solicitation information from The Scoop:
“Shipping to comic shops this week, and arriving in just a couple of days, are two new $7.99, 64-page Disney trade paperbacks from Geppi’s Entertainment’s Gemstone Publishing. We looked at Walt Disney’s Comics #689 last week. Now it’s time for its partner on the shelves, Uncle Scrooge #374, and the outrageous romances inside!
We say “romances,” of course, because the springtime thaw typically brings love and smooches to mind. And that’s where things are headed in our lead-off adventure, “A Gal For Gladstone” by Pat and Carol McGreal and Massimo Fecchi. Infamous sorceress Magica De Spell has hatched yet another plan to get ahold of Uncle Scrooge’s Number One Dime. Jinxing lucky Gladstone Gander is step one. Then comes step two, disguising herself as a gorgeous girl to lift Gladstone out of his resulting funk. A newly besotten Gladstone will never suspect his new girlfriend is Scrooge’s old enemy. And an unsuspecting Gladstone might help Magica into the Money Bin past Scrooge’s anti-sorcery defenses, mightn’t he? Unless the magic love affair goes just a little wrong…
After witnessing Gladstone’s mixed-up romance, you’d think Scrooge would like to avoid getting involved himself. And you’re right! But Cupid attacks Scrooge in our next story anyway, in the person of lady tycoon Brigitta MacBridge! In “Rainbow Raiders,” by fan favorites Lars Jensen and Cesar Ferioli, Brigitta has a gadget that extracts real gold from rainbows. And she’ll let Scrooge in on the profits. But only if Scrooge goes with her to Garland Pass for an extended date…excuse us, “rainbow investigation.” In the tradition of the late, great Romano Scarpa, a classic screwball comedy is born!
Two short stories carry on the issue’s romance theme. In Frank Jonker’s “No Need to Know,” Gyro Gearloose invents a machine to trace anonymous valentines. And in Carl Barks’ “Fashion in Flight,” Donald attempts to woo Daisy with another invention, an unexpectedly flying car.
Our remaining sagas have little to do with love, but no tough tycoon can survive entirely on hearts and flowers. In William Van Horn’s all-new “Easy Circumstances,” Uncle Rumpus is invited to fancy society events because he can be used to pitch investment ideas to Scrooge. Of course, Scrooge is furious when Rumpus delivers the pitches, and tries to counter by faking bankruptcy…uh-oh! Finally, in Sander Gulien’s “Discreet Delivery,” Donald must keep Scrooge’s valuable Stradiduckius out of the Beagle Boys’ clutches. But is the rare violin really the prize that the crooks are after?
Speaking of prizes, fans of modern-day McDuck-meister Don Rosa won’t want to miss this issue. Following up on “A Gal For Gladstone” is a new-to-North America Gladstone Gander pin-up by Rosa; then our back cover features the third in Rosa’s 60th anniversary Scrooge poster series!
