“The son of Highfather of New Genesis, Scott Free was sent to Apokolips as an infant. But nothing could ever keep this master escape artist and lifelong good guy from fleeing the presence of evil.”
“Let me be Scott Free — and find myself!”
Did I mention that I’m running out of room for these things!?
As I made my way to the register after picking up my FCBD issue (and the recent Fantastic Four Lost Adventure story by Kirby & Lee that I hadn’t been able to pick up yet) my eye fell on what appeared to be a Mister Miracle figure — one of Kirby’s coolest creations, I go out of my way to collect Mister Miracle stuff in any form I can find it. Anyhow, I knew that at least one figure had already been made but the sculpt really didn’t catch my eye, nor did the price tag, but upon closer inspection of this one I was instantly amazed by the Kirby likeness and detail, it looked just like Kirby’s colorful character come to life and I knew I had to own it.
Judging these figures alongside the fantastic New Frontier series that DC Direct recently released, I really have to hand it to them for some superb work, and finally getting it right in so many respects. And after checking several other figures online it appears that they have an awful lot of great stuff hitting the shelves and I’m really going to have to control myself. Should we see a New Gods Series 2, and a new Barda figure, then I’ll certainly get that one as well but in the meantime it’s going to take some serious effort not to plop down the money for Orion and Darkseid as well.
Good ‘ol Mister Miracle is currently being displayed on my computer desk, the great escape artist inspiring me to pull out a “miracle’ and do well enough on this massive, commulative, final I’m studiing for. It’ll be a huge relief when it’s over. You might even say I’ll be…scott free!
