I haven’t stopped by my LCS for a couple of weeks now, which I really only frequent to pick up my internet order so as to take advantage of the free shipping they offer (every little bit helps), so I freed up some time yesterday on the way home from work to stop by and was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was “Hellboy Day,” an event Dark Horse initiated to commemorate and promote the release of Hellboy II: the Golden Army on July 11th.
So, along with my order I went home with a Hellboy Day copy (as opposed to a FCBD copy) of “The Mole,” a mini-poster, and a bookmark/checklist to celebrate the occasion. It’s always fun to get goodies like this, and I genuinely enjoy the character so that made it all the more worthwhile.
For those that may have missed it, here’s what was offered in full:
- Hellboy Day exclusive reprint of “the Mole” – Free Comic Book Day 2008’s smash hit, featuring a pre-Darkness Calls Hellboy story by Mike Mignola and Duncan Fegredo, a post-Killing Ground BPRD story by John Arcudi and Guy Davis, and a pre-1946 Professor Bruttenholm story by Josh Dysart and Paul Azaceta!
- Hellboy Day exclusive bookmarks/checklists!
- Hellboy Day exclusive posters!
Now granted, it’s a day late (and I wish I would’ve known about it earlier to pass along the news) but I figured it worth mentioning as I would wager to guess that your LCS probably still has a few giveaway items today, and throughout the weekend. My shop was running out of the “Hellboy Day” copies of “The Mole,” but they had plenty of the FCBD versions on the counter, as well as the bookmarks so I doubt it’d hurt to stop by and see what you can gather up.
