Everyone loves The Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror” episodes and in case you need some more Halloween-themed material to digest (no, not literally) this holiday Harper Collins has released a 128 page TPB collecting a bunch of the creepy tales. I thought about posting the HarperCollins solicitation but The Scoop did a much better job providing useful information:
In August HarperCollins Publishing released their new Halloween themed book The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Dead Man’s Jest. Matt Groening, Simpsons creator, master of gigglish-goulishness presents monsters of rock tales with Alice Cooper, Gene Simmons, Rob Zombie, and…Pat Boone.
The book begins with an introduction by Ned Flanders, while his sons Rod and Todd are held captive by a few notorious aliens. Stories include “House of a Thousand Donuts”, “Squish Thing”, “Fatal Reception”, “Bart Simmons, God of Thunder!”, “Two Tickets to Heck!”, “Scareway to Heaven”, “The Sub-Basement of Dracula”, and “The Legend of Batterface”. Interspersed throughout the stories are lessons on Halloween and horror taught by characters from The Simpsons TV show, including Bart’s Ultimate Haunted House and Grandpa explaining the evil eye.
The stories insight fear and laughs through tales of Bart discovering that his real father is a certain long-tongued rocker, Homer becoming a squishy-beer creature, and one celebrating EC comics from the 1950s. Some of the artwork is not up to usual Simpsons’ par, but the roleplaying characters and rock star cameos more then make up for it.
