I’m just finishing up the semester where my U.S. Navy course is concerned, and I have to say that it’s been one of the most rewarding classes I’ve yet taken. I’ve got essays waiting for me as the final approaches tomorrow but regardless of the outcome I’ve learned more than I could have imagined in the last several months and my respect for the United States Navy has shot through the roof. How far we’ve come since General George Washington’s “little navy” was financed for “all things honorable and glorious.” I’ve long had a healthy respect and fascination with aviation and the U.S. Air Force, and now I can gladly say that I’ve quickly come to hold ships, and the U.S. Navy in a similar esteem. I hope some of you will one day take the time to learn more as well, if you haven’t done so already, as it’s a richly rewarding experience unto itself and the lessons learned are invaluable. I wish I would’ve done more research into the subject sooner.
Here’s to the United States commitment to her in the years to come because “without a respectable Navy – alas America!”
Wish me luck on those exams!
