The War of Kings saga is yet another Abnett & Lanning event that I’m really looking forward to in the months to come (Black Bolt & The Inhumans, Nova, Lilandra & the Shi’Ar, Gladiator, Kree & Co! Are you kidding me?!) and I wanted to take a moment to thank good friend, and blog regular Michael Hoskin, for his work on the War of Kings giveaway issue that hit stores in early January.
I had missed it completely when it was released but was fortunate enough to spot it this weekend when I stopped at my new shop on a whim. I had planned to pick it up given the *free* pricetag anyway but seeing that MH had written it really made it a no-brainer. It was the perfect primer for the event as it caught me up on a number of events that I managed to miss out on in the last couple of years and did so in a clear and concise manner, all while remaining an entertaining read unto itself. Great job MH, and we’ll be looking forward to much more down the road!
Thank you Tex! It’s a good thing that I decided against my original idea – recounting the stories in rhyming verse – because I’ve had a few remarks that it did a fine job of concisely explaining what all those comics were about. Having written Annihilation Saga in the past, this was an area of the Marvel Universe I was all to happy to cover; hopefully I’ll be back for whatever may come after War of Kings (but for now, I’ll just sit back and enjoy the event).
Hey, I’m all for recaps in verse! And now that I know you worked on Annihilation Saga I’ll see what I can do about tracking it down as well (I’ve got the meat and potatoes of the story, but I’m sure I missed a few important details).
Having seen your compilation work in the past, this stuff really is right up your alley. I’ll just sit back and wait for that Serpent Society compendium!
